Spencer McClay has a passion about weaving and color. Growing up in New Orleans, his Mardi Gras-inspired artwork shares the exuberance of his personality. In award-winning shows and private and commercial collections throughout the West coast, McClay’s work spans two decades of unleashed creativity on the loom.
In addition to the work being bold, colorful works of art, the weavings pay special attention to being green. Many of the materials are from recycled resources, such as recycled sheeting selvages, upholstery remnants, computer wiring, fish netting, broken tile--the materials, and the imagination of the artist, are unlimited.
